FORTUNE WAAKYE CLASSIC
Try this easy Waakye recipe!
Method
- Wash and soak the beans overnight and off the water.
- Cook the beans with the sorghum leaves/millet stalk leaves at medium-low in a large pot with 4 cups of water.
- Allow the beans to cook for 20 minutes. At this point, add in your rice and the rest of the water (2 1/4 cups), mix evenly and allow to a boil.
- Once it has come to a boil, turn the heat to low, cover the pot with aluminium foil/napkin and let it cook on low heat for about 30 minutes.
- After 30 minutes, check on the Waakye to see how well the rice has cooked, stirring periodically for an even coloured rice. Cover the pot till the rice is done. This should take another 15-20 minutes.
- Serve with black pepper sauce, tomato sauce, boiled eggs, avocado or any sauce and protein of choice.

- 3 cups of Fortune Emo Pa Rice
- ½ teaspoon of salt
- 6 1/4 cups of water to cook the beans and rice
- Sorghum leaves
- Beans
